Forest

Land
Acknowledgement

The land that HELD Agency operates is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Attawandaron and Haudenosaunee.

We thank these stewards of the land, and recognize & respect the inherent rights of these Nations as stewards of this land, and their ongoing contributions to our history & culture.

We commit to ongoing reconciliation efforts by working alongside our Indigenous neighbours on this land, and by ingraining the Seventh Generation Principle in our work to make decisions that are sustainable for the next 7 generations.

Indigenous Knowledges
and Peer-Based Approaches

We would like to acknowledge the many ways Peer-Based Approaches draw inspiration from Indigenous cultures and knowledges valuing the importance of community and shared experiences.

The concept of Wounded Healers, where individuals who have overcome personal struggles use their experiences to help others, is a prime example of this.

Talking Circles, a traditional Indigenous practice, also emphasizes the importance of listening and sharing in a safe and supportive environment.

These practices prioritize the well-being of the community as a whole, and are at the centre of HELD Agency Inc.'s work. We would not be Active Listeners without the continued contributions and support of Indigenous Knowledge Keepers.
